2013 was an amazing year where I had the opportunity to travel to 8 new countries, visit 3 US cities, drive and fly over 30,000 miles and meet so many amazing people with whom I created immeasurable and unforgettable memories. Here is a look back at my 2013 via Instagram.

January:

Washington D.C. (Obama Inauguration)

Inaguration 2013

In January I headed down to Washington D.C. to witness the second Inauguration of President Barack Obama. It was an amazing experience where hundreds of thousands of people gathered to take part of an extremely historical moment: the beginning of the second term of the ‘First Black President’.

February:

Mexico

I went to visit my friend Charlene in Mexico City, visit a pyramid in Teotihuacan,  and I was also able to go off of the beaten path to Tula! It was an amazing experience where I got to experience warm weather, happy people, and delicious food!

March:

Helsinki, Finland

Not sure why I didn’t post this picture to IG, but it was my favorite from the layover

On my way to India, I had a brief layover in Helsinki, Finland, so I decided to go out and explore the city. I met up with a Couchsurfer there who showed me around the city and took me to one of the coolest brunches in town. I hope to return again in the future and see more of what the country has to offer.

March:

India

I went to Delhi, India with the Nomadness Travel Tribe for Holi, the celebration of colors. It was a wonderful time where I was able to cross the ‘Dance in Front of the Taj Mahal’ off of my bucket list

[see the video of that below – yeah, that happened].

July:

Iceland

A lot more toned down than ‘Harlem Shaking’ in India, Iceland was a laid back trip (well, actually I spent two layovers there). Before flying to Iceland, I was not aware of the country’s natural beauty, and unfortunately I did not get a chance to see much of it, so this is a country I hope to get back to in 2014!

July:

Spain

I spent two weeks in Spain traveling to Barcelona, Madrid, and Pamplona. I ate a lot of food, saw a lot of sights, and did the scariest thing I have ever done in my life (to date): I ran with the bulls! It was an exciting time with a lot of sunshine, great people, and great wine!

July:

England

After leaving Spain, I headed straight over to England. I fell in LOVE with London! What a great city full of wonderful and interesting things; it reminded me a lot of New York. I was lucky to have hot sunny days everyday that I was there, which I heard was quite unusual. I also happened to be there on the day that the ‘Royal Baby‘ was born, which was pretty cool too. I also took a day trip to visit my friends Shaina and Rob in Cambridge and got to go punting around Cambridge University.

July :

Paris, France

The end of my 2013 ‘Euro-trip’ concluded with visiting The City of Lights. One of my favorite memories of Paris was of seeing the Eiffel Tower at night. It is something that I believe everyone should see once in their lives. While there I ate loads of baguettes to save money, I ate a little French food, I took a day trip to Versailles, and I tried to squeeze in all that Paris had to offer in my short week there.

December:

Nicaragua

I ended the year in Nicaragua traveling with my friend Shavaun. While there, I went to the beach to soak up some sun, hiked up and camped on a volcano for New Years, and got to explore the city of Leon. It was a wonderful time and definitely a time that I will never forget.

2013 was a wonderful year where I was able to travel to a lot of places and see a lot of things. I met people whom I will never forget and I created memories that will last me for the rest of my life. I am so thankful that I am able to travel and share my experiences with all of you and my hope is that you too will be able to see the world and share your experiences with others.

Now it is your turn, where did you travel in 2013? Share your comments and/or blog posts below! Happy traveling!
