Haad Yao, Koh Pha Ngan, Thailand

Getting to Haad Yao from the Ferry (Thong Sala):

Take a share-taxi in the parking lot (do not take the motorbikes near the pier, they will charge you a higher price, usually starting at 200 Baht)
Price: 150 Baht ($5 USD)

Getting to the Ferry (Thong Sala) from Haad Yao:

Fair House Travel (across from 7-Eleven) – they can also arrange tours
Phone: 081-8923424
Price: 100 Baht ($3.33 USD)

Getting to Haad Rin (Full Moon Party Area) from Haad Yao:

Arrange transportation with you place of lodging, if they do not offer transportation, take a share-taxi on the street.
Price: It will cost you between 200-300 Baht ($6.67-$10 USD)

Getting from Haad Rin to Haad Yao (after the Full Moon Party):

There will be people with signs near the main entrance of the Haad Rin beach saying where they have transportation going to. Make sure they direct you to the parking lot with other share-taxis. If there are multiple share-taxis lined up with other party-goers inside, you are in the right place. The trip to Haad Yao might take a long time and it is not uncommon to have to switch taxis in a remote ghost town.
Price: 300 Baht ($10 USD)

Lodging in Haad Yao:

There is a lot of lodging to choose from. I stayed at JB Hut, which is about ten minutes walking from the beach. JB is on the mountain, not on the beach, but the food is excellent, the staff is friendly, and the views from the hut are gorgeous (the sunset can be seen from here). Booking can be done on HostelBookers.com.

Pampering on Haad Yao Beaches:

On the beach you can find Ratatouille where manicures and pedicures start at 150 Baht ($5 USD) each and Traditional Thai massages start at 250 Baht. There are a full range of other service provided as well.

Convenience in Haad Yao:

A 7-Eleven is located near the beach on the main road selling everything from water to sunscreen to deodorant. Across the streets on both the left and right sides of Fair House Travel, two small shops can be found with inexpensive beach clothing.

*Please note: prices reflect cost in 2012.
