The Angel of Independence (commonly referred to as El Ángel) is located on the Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City. According to the Mexico City Guide, “This monument was inaugurated on September 16th 1910 as a culminating event of the festivities commemorating the 100th anniversary of Mexico’s Independence.”
The Angel is one of the most famous landmarks in Mexico City. Currently, it serves as one of the major gathering places for special occasions such as large celebrations and protests.
On the weekends, you can go to the top of the angel for FREE and look down on the Paseo de la Reforma.
