Travel Journal
Travel Journal * – Etsy ($60.00)
One great resource that the traveler in your life would appreciate is a travel journal. Not only are travel journals good for writing down notes about a destination, but they can also serve as a place to record expenses, or write down words in another language. Personally, I carry a journal with me on all of my trips and I have found them to be invaluable.
A great place to find unique travel journals is on Etsy, a marketplace where people around the world connect to make, sell and buy unique goods. Some of my personal favorite travel journals on Etsy are:
- Travel Journal & Pencil Set* ($8.00) – This pocket sized hand-drawn journal was handcrafted in New York and has been and reproduced with high quality pigment inks on eco friendly speckled and textured recycled card stock.
- Travel Sketchbook & Brown Leather Art Journal* ($89.00) – This awesome hand-made leather journal comes with a removable strap so you can wear it around your body and pockets inside of it so you can hold onto small items.

Coordinate jewelry is a piece of jewelry that has coordinates stamped into it. Etsy sells a number of great pieces of coordinate jewelry including:

For The Mini-Traveler: Multicultural Books
Books are a great tool for children to use to learn about the world around them. Books are a great learning tool also for helping to learn new words, understanding cultural norms, and building comprehension.
Some great books for your little traveler include:
- Richard Scarry’s Busy, Busy World* (Ages 3-5)
- The Lonely Planet Kids Travel Book: Mind-Blowing Stuff on Every Country in the World* (Ages 8+)
- Children Just Like Me: A Unique Celebration of Children Around the World* (Grades 3-6)

For The Photographer: Compact Camera
Fujifilm X-E1, Photo Credit: Steve’s Digicams
A camera is the perfect gift to give a traveler to help them to capture all of those special moments during their trip.
I currently shoot with three cameras, a mirrorless Fujifilm X-E1*[pictured above], a Canon PowerShot S95*, and a GoPro HERO3+*. Each of these cameras serves a different function: my Fujifilm captures all of my beautiful and scenic shots (do you remember the sunsets in Santorini?), my S95 is excellent for food photography or just carrying around when I go out, and my GoPro is great for capturing video (yup, I used it for those beautiful scenes I captured in Bermuda).
If you are looking for a great camera but you are not sure where to start, National Geographic put together a great list of Top 10 Compact Cameras for Travelers. Some of my favorites on their list include the:
- Fujifilm X-T1* – $1399
- Fujifilm X-E2* (the newer model of my X-E1) – $999
- Sony Alpha a6000* – $548

Travel-Themed Candles
A Travelista scented candle is the perfect gift for a travel lover and will fill their home with scents from various destinations around the world. Inspired by the travels of Travelista Teri, the Travelista Candles create a sensory experience that could take people on a journey to destinations such as Cape Town, Bali, and Rio de Janeiro.
Personally, one of my favorite scents from the Travelista Candle line is the Cape Town candle, which is comprised of three beautiful scents: bergamot, freesia, and tea rose. The scents of the candle remind me of my trip to the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens in Cape Town, South Africa.
The eco-friendly 100% soy wax Travelista Candles start at $12.00 and are available for purchase on the Harlem Candle Company website.
Watch the video below to learn about Teri’s Travelista Candles!

Thanks Chanel for including my Etsy post. This is a great list of gifts, many of which I would love to receive this Christmas. I especially love the coordinates necklace. It’s very unique and not something I have seen before. I hope you have a lovely festive season!
Thank you for contributing Jen! I also love the coordinates necklace! Happy Holidays 🙂
Yes please to all of these! I love them all. I need to write in my journal more! The candles sound intriguing and so do the “try the world” boxes. Thank you for including my gift guide!
You’re very welcome and thanks Nadeen!
Wow a personal photographer for holiday pics I never even knew this existed… This would even be handy for those travelling as a family or couple… how many photos on holidays have someone missing and who wants to hand their very expensive camera to a stranger in the middle of central park?? Love the journal I want one!!
I agree about the personal photographer and I want one myself Poppy!
I love the idea of a compact grooming kit, but always wonder why they are touted “for him”. Don’t women need to clip their nails also?
Haha I never thought about that! I suppose the one in the picture could be used for women, however I think the shaving grooming kits are more for males 😀
The coordinate jewelry is nice. I would take that.
It is really nice right Holly?
Snagging the list of multicultural books! One of my goals for my dayhome is to incorporate more multicultural activities and it’s so hard to find quality books!! Plus the travel journal is genius!
Question for you…I see you have a trip planned to Canada next summer..where are you going?
I find multicultural books to be invaluable to teach my students about different cultures.
I will be heading to Toronto and the surrounding areas. Are you from Canada?
Yes I am!! We love about 3 1/2 hours away from the Rocky Mountains. Absolutely beautiful out west. If you ever get a chance you should visit Banff.
Banff has been on my list for ages! I definitely hope to get out that way soon!
We try and get there at least every other year. It’s really nice to experience all year round. It’s one of those places that crawls down into your soul and leaves you changed.
These are great gift ideas for the traveler. I have a few people in my life that I think would love any of these gifts. I love the idea of a travel journal. It’s a wonderful way to document one’s travels!
Agreed – I really enjoy using my journal! 😀
I heard about that photo thing for travel very neat. I even knew of one person who hired a photographer to travel with them to Disney world to take photos…extreme but I get it
The great thing about Flytographer is that they have photographers in cities around the world which is definitely more cost effective than paying to bring a photographer along! 😀
These are beautiful journals! the
Travel Journal & Pencil Set is a great Stocking Stuffer Gift Set, and as it says Cute Recycled Notebook – for any gift – Loving the leather bound one for my son – as he is the artist. But, my hubby is great at journaling and he is still that artist at heart
It sounds like both your husband and son would appreciate the journals for their artistic abilities Donna! 😀
These are great gift ideas. Love the travel journal & Pencil sets for a friend who started a writing class.
Thanks Patrice! Someone who is about to take a writing class would definitely appreciate having a new journal! 😀
These are all amazing gift ideas for travelers!! I have a friend who travels all over the world sometimes alone, I had no idea about the personal photographer. I know I travel with my kids a lot and it can be hard to get someone to snap our photo for us.
Thanks so much Jenny; I think a personal photographer would be a great idea then for you and your family during your travels! 😀
I’m all for the gift of travel. If someone can grant my visa to Brazil, I think I’ll love them forever. Lol great gift guide.
I too would love for someone to gift me with the gift of travel JoAnna! 😀
I never knew about some of this stuff until I visited…great ideas! I love them!
Thanks so much Tiffany!
The travel journal would make a lovely gift!
Agreed Kristen – it would be a lovely gift indeed!
These days, it’s quite hard to think about gifting physical items to my loved ones because they seem to have everything they already want. Offering services such as photography as you mentioned sounds pretty cool. I just got myself a new mirrorless cam.
Yes, I think having a photographer or a subscription service would be great gifts for the person who has everything. I also have a mirrorless and I love it! 😀
You’re welcome Maria and it definitely can be hard to remember everything, which makes a journal the perfect thing to travel with! 😀
Thanks Valerie! 😀
I agree Jillian, it definitely would be a way to travel without having to travel! 😀
Agreed Tiffany – having a photographer definitely can help capture all of life’s precious moments 😀
Thanks so much Kasi and I hope that you get some things from this list during the holidays! 😀
Thanks Tyra and which box did you get? I am really interested in trying the one from Spain! 😀
I got Spain with France for free! I haven’t gotten to either of them LOL
I love them both too Mimi! 😀
That’s great Christine, thank you! Photography is very important to me as well – especially because I love to reminisce about times past 😀
Thanks Brenda, you’re welcome, and happy holidays to you and your family as well! 😀
Thanks Jonna, I always try to find unique items for travelers and the coordinates jewelry was so cool I had to include it! 😀
Love the idea of the Travel Subscription Box. Who wouldn’t want a box of interesting items from around the world showing at their doorstep?
Agreed – especially when they are food items! 😀
Travel is the perfect gift!
Agreed Ariel – I would love someone to give me a trip for Christmas! 😀
Thanks so much Heather, and every year I always try to find some items that are a little bit different than what people might normally see! 😀
This is awesome! I’d totally want the photographer as Im usually traveling solo. Would be nice to get some pro shots. Of course the candles sound lovely as well.
I agree Nicole! It would definitely be great to get some pro shots when traveling and the candles smell so wonderful! 😀
My brother and I are taking a great trip together in the next few months. I am planning on buying him a journal to keep track of all we do!
That’s great Rhonda! I am sure your brother will love it!
This is such a great list! I especially love the Travel Journal.
Thanks so much MJ! 😀
