137 Pillars Suites Pool

The city of Bangkok, Thailand has a seemingly unlimited amount of places to stay. There are a number of accommodation options for travelers with various budgets ranging from hostels to luxury hotels.

While planning my short trip to Bangkok, I was seeking a hotel that was conveniently located, embraced Thai culture, and had unique design aspects.

My search brought me to 137 Pillars Suites and Residences, a Thai-owned luxury boutique hotel located in the posh neighborhood of Sukhumvit.

Guests staying at the beautiful 137 Pillars will be enthralled by the property’s beauty. From the minute that you set foot inside of the lobby, you will be amazed at how perfectly 137 Pillars captures old world Thai charm and history with a modern architectural design.

Large wooden panels stretch from the sleek marble floors of the lobby to the ceiling making the room feel like it is hundreds of feet tall. Elephants, the national animal of Thailand, are placed neatly and carefully on elegantly designed wooden tables surrounded by plush blue couches.

Enormous floor to ceiling windows extend around the exterior of the lobby, giving guests the feeling of being both inside and outside.

137 Pillars

During my stay at 137, I stayed in one of the 18 Ayutthaya Suites with gorgeous sweeping views overlooking Bangkok.

The suite was fully equipped with a large king bed, a fully-furnished balcony, floor to ceiling windows, a wine bar, a walk-in wardrobe, an expansive bathroom, and dining space, which would make any guest feel like they were living like royalty.

In addition to the wonderfully spacious room, the suite also came equipped with a personal butler and a cellular phone which provided me with personalized service.

The Food

I cannot sing enough praises about the wonderful food at 137 Pillars and Suites. Every morning, I headed down to The Marble Bar for a delicious breakfast comprised of both Western and Thai dishes.

In addition to the Marble Bar, guests can also dine at Nimitr, a restaurant featuring Asian inspired gastronomic cuisine with a western hint.  Another option for dining is at the Bangkok Trading Post Bistro and Deli, which is located on the exterior of the hotel and serves Western & Asian Eclectic Comfort Cuisine.

Guests are also welcome to have a drink at Jack Bain’s Bar and Cigar Divan, a gentleman’s premium bar offering top of the world premium whiskey, fine champagne, Asian inspired cocktails and classic cocktails with a molecular twist.

The Property: Amenities & Spaces

137 Pillars Rooftop

The Rooftop

One of my favorite spaces in the hotel is the rooftop, which is accessible to all guests staying in the suites. The space, which overlooks Bangkok, feels serene and private. The daybeds are soft and comfy, and the rooftop pool has views to die for.

Another one of my favorite spaces is The Marble Bar, where guests can not only dine, but also sit and relax while looking out over Bangkok. For those daring enough, there is a glass floor overlooking the 27 levels below the dining space.

Right next to The Marble Bar, there is yet another infinity pool with eastern views of Bangkok. A nice dip on the pool is a relaxing retreat from the heat and humidity of the summer days.

Last, but certainly not least, is the fitness studio. With all of the amazing eating that you will be doing in Bangkok, you are going to need somewhere to burn it all off and the studio is the perfect place to go.

Overall, my stay at 137 Pillars Suites and Residences in Bangkok was fabulous, and definitely one of my favorite things about the city. It was easy to access from the airport and it was located in a great neighborhood with a lot of shopping and entertainment options. The staff was absolutely wonderful and the hotel embodied old Thailand. I highly recommend staying at this property if you find yourself in Bangkok.
