Autumn is one of THE best seasons in New York City!

The temperature finally beings to drop transforming the heat and humidity that drenched the city during the summer into a cool and comfortable crisp autumn. Autumn is also the time when the trees start shedding their leaves casting the city into a sea of orange and yellow. Pumpkin flavored foods and drinks begin to line the shelves of every store and apple picking season returns.

Out of all of the amazing things that occur in New York City during autumn, one of my absolute favorite things to do is to attend the annual Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine and Food Festival presented by Coca-Cola®!

The Festival will be held in New York City this year from October 12-15. This year’s Festival will feature some amazing events like a Spanish Apertivo hosted by Scott Conant, a Family Ice Cream Fun-Dae hosted by Mario Batali and Ayesha Curry, and a Burger Bash hosted by Rachel Ray!

Inspired by the New York City Wine and Food Festival, I am sharing a wonderful autumn recipe that I created using a ShopRite bundle deal.

Shopping for the ShopRite Bundle Deal

For my recipe, I purchased the ShopRite Kitchen Fresh Fried 8-Piece Chicken and 64oz Gold Peak Tea.

The Fresh Fried chicken can be found between the Chef’s Express and Produce sections of the store.

The 64oz Gold Peak Tea can be found on the Coca-Cola display near the laundry aisle.

Southern Fried Chicken and Waffles Paired with Sweet Tea

One food that always reminds me of autumn is Fried Chicken and Waffles. Although this hearty meal can be consumed during any season, it will certainly warm you up as the temperatures begin to fall during the cool autumn months. Paired with sweet tea, this go-to meal will have you asking for more again and again.

I first learned how to make fried chicken and waffles during a fried chicken class that I attended in New York City a couple of years ago.

Using the ShopRite Kitchen Fresh Fried 8-Piece Chicken, I decided to put my own spin on this classic recipe.

Since the both the chicken and the sweet tea come pre-made (making the recipe so much simpler), the only thing that you will need to create is the waffles!

After making the waffles, all you need to do is place the ShopRite chicken on top, drizzle syrup over the waffles, and enjoy with a nice cold glass of Gold Peak Sweet Tea!
